Our special guest speaker, Melanie Joseph, will be speaking on:
Adapted and Integrated Opportunities within the Vancouver Park Board
Melanie has been working in this field since 2001 and with the Vancouver Park Board - Access Services Department since 2006 as a programmer in community recreational therapy. Her background is in Recreational Therapy and Aquatic Therapy. She has worked with a number of special populations and many individuals with a range of abilities. Melanie believes that an active lifestyle can lead to multiple health benefits and that recreation is a right and not a privilege. She hopes to help families find the appropriate programs for their family members.
Please come to ask questions and to share your successes and frustrations with recreational opportunities suited to your child's special needs.Child and Family Research Institute (CFRI)
BC Children's Hospital Campus
950 West 28th Avenue
Vancouver, BC
Room 2108
CFRI (Child and Family Research Institute) can be a confusing place to find but the map below may help. The orientation is north-south. The street at the top is West 28th Avenue which CFRI backs onto but the entrance to the building is on the other side towards BC Children's Hospital, at entrance 18 (highlighted). The outside door is locked in the evening but there will be someone at the door to let you in.
